Call for applications for copy editors for the Graduate Journal of Social Science

The Graduate Journal of Social Science (GJSS) is a well-established, peer-reviewed, open access, social science journal with an international and interdisciplinary readership. The journal publishes three thematic issues a year that include academic papers, book reviews, and also photography, poetry and creative writing pieces. We encourage submissions by PhD, MPhil and MA students, and also by early career and more senior academics.

We are currently seeking applications for copy editors from current post-graduates, who will be in postgraduate study for at least two years from the application deadline (October 3rd 2016). Responsibilities and tasks would include:

  • Assessing and correcting the grammar and spelling of submissions
  • Fact querying
  • Making sure that submissions are correctly referenced (applicants should have an advanced familiarity with APA referencing)
  • Co-ordinating with the rest of the editorial team to ensure these tasks are completed in line with proposed publication dates and timelines

This position would provide experience of copy editing and working in a journal editorial team which would prepare potential applicants well for working with journals in future academic careers.

To apply, please send a letter (no longer than 1 page of A4) to editors@gjss.org by October 3rd 2016, detailing why you would be well-suited to the role and any relevant skills or experience that would corroborate this. If you have any other queries please contact Alankaar Sharma and James Beresford (editors in chief) at editors@gjss.org.
